Turf-Cutting Ceremony At Cambridge's Newest School
Cambridgeshire County Council Chairman John Powley will perform the ceremony at Trumpington Meadows Primary School at 3pm on Monday 10 September.
Also present will be executive headteacher Judith Osler and representatives from building contractors Willmott Dixon.
The new school will cater for 420 pupils age 4 -11, drawn from families moving into homes on the new housing developments in the south of the city. The school will also make provision for pre-school children.
Promoted by the Trumpington Federation governors, it will be a foundation school federated with the existing Fawcett Primary School and will share an executive headteacher and governing body.
It is being built by the County Council adjacent to the Park & Ride site in Trumpington. The design of the building will feature the use of renewable energy, natural ventilation, recycled water and solar-heated water.
It will also serve as a community centre, with two dedicated community rooms and a floodlit multi use games area with changing facilities being provided. The shared use of other school facilities such as the hall are also planned.
